This service is aimed at
helping the client to ascertain the quality of a translation performed by third-parties. Typical examples include the evaluation of a sample from a
prospective translation vendor, or a situation in which the
participation of a qualified independent opinion is needed in order to
ascertain the quality of a translated material (e.g., dispute resolution
with a translation vendor).
This service is similar to the revision of a third-party translation,
although the goal here is not to check and improve the translation so that
it meets professional quality standards, but to evaluate it and to provide
our opinion about its quality, supported with an analysis of the errors
found.
Our task is to revise the third-party translation against the original or
source language document, and to highlight and comment any errors as we find
them. We check for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax, as well as
for wrong or inconsistent terminology, misunderstandings, mistranslations,
omissions or additions, inappropriate style or register, or too free/too
literal translations.
The standard deliverables include a report in which we state our opinion
as to whether or not the translation meets quality standards to be
considered a professional translation and, if applicable, a summary of errors
found and one or more PDF files containing any necessary notes pinpointing a
sufficient amount of errors to prove a flawed work.
